Eight weeks
have gone by since the last update here; just the same excuse
as usual - too busy. Right now we are incredibly busy. Everyone
here is getting used to the idea of leaving and the stress
is starting to build. There's more on that over at the life
in the tropics blog. I'm slightly overbooked on
blogs and websites right now, but in another month, I'll have
more than enough
time to sort things out and get some order out of all the madness.
For those who haven't heard from me personally lately, sorry.
There will be more emails than you will probably want to read
in the near future.
We haven't
done anything with the house right now other than some repairs.
We had a few Europeans interested enough to do some negotiating
but they have all apparently backed out. I was somewhat amused
that the only Indonesian who negotiated stopped after the first
round. That was rather unusual. Anyway, we've dropped the price
significantly, but we're just about at ground floor now. I
do not intend to lose money on the house so we will just have
to wait and see. I may have some commuting to do in the future
until we get somewhere on the house.
I had another
one of my motorbike accidents last month, but somehow came
out with some minor cuts and bruises. There may be something
about fate here, but I'll save that discussion for the future
when I have more time.
The family
is fine. Exams are over for everyone except Rebecca. We're
trying to find schools for the kids in Bali right now. It's
a bit tricky with us here and the schools there, but I imagine
that everything will turn out OK in the end.
I'm off
to Singapore for a day in a little over two weeks. I'll be
looking for a retirement visa. I'm already building up the
anxiety level over that. I just finished with my school reports
today. Just have to cut and paste tomorrow and the last big
thing will be done at school.
This will
probably be the last update here until I get to Bali in another
two weeks. That will mean that the teaching career is over
and the next stage of life has begun.
No new scans
right now, but here is the link to
the first four (soon to be back online). I'd still like
to get some more
old photos so if you have photos send them.
The built-in guestbook
is gone, and I'm working to find a script to put in here to
get one back. But in the meantime, if you click on this link
you can go to my new guestbook and
leave a message there.
I'm testing out
a video page. Click here to see the first test.
