A week has
already zipped by of my month vacation. It always amazes me how
quickly the vacations go here. It seems like they pass by much
more quickly than the vacations did when I lived in Pakistan.
I haven't
done anything on this vacation so far - mostly just doing some
work on lesson plans for next term and trying to rehabilitate
my two computers which are on their last legs. It's amazing how
the prices for computers have dropped in just the past two years
since I last purchased one. The plan is to go to Bali as soon
as the kids have finished their exams. They will stay for two
weeks; I'm just staying long enough to take care of business (shopping
and passport renewals), and then I'm coming back here with a friend
from Bali. I have a shopping list with 51 items on it which says
something about the lack of shopping here.
I just returned
from a short road trip to Sumbawa Besar, the district capital.
In spite of stopping a number of times to take photos and make
some notes for an article that I'm writing on Sumbawa, I still
made the trip in 3 1/2 hours which is pretty intense driving without
being crazy.
